Early and personal life

Gabriel Batistuta was born on 1 February 1969 in the town of Reconquista, Santa Fe, Argentina. He is the son of Omar Batistuta, a bricklayer, and his wife, Gloria Zilli. He has two brothers, Jorge and Alejandro, and a sister, Gabriela.

Batistuta was raised in a humble family, and his parents encouraged him to play football from an early age. He began playing for local club Estudiantes de Reconquista at age 6, and in 1982, he joined the youth team of Newell’s Old Boys in Rosario.
